Can you help tackle the next Grand Challenge?

03 Apr 2019
Professor Rob Brooks

The Grand Challenges program is seeking the input, ingenuity and enthusiasm of the UNSW community to determine the next themes to be tackled by the University.

Since its inception in 2015, the Grand Challenges program has supported four major projects – Climate Change, Refugees and Migrants, Inequality, and Living with 21st Century Technology. Two new Grand Challenges on Rapid Urbanisation and Energy Transition are presently taking shape.

The program is looking to plan future Grand Challenges to start in late 2019 or in 2020 and is seeking the input, ingenuity and enthusiasm of the UNSW community.

What pressing issues would you like to see UNSW address? These could be problems humanity is facing right now or could be just over the horizon. Submit your ideas now.

The Grand Challenges program will help you bring your ideas and projects to life by:

  • connecting you with other staff, students and alumni;
  • helping you work with leaders in business, government, NGOs and the international research community;
  • working with the Centre for Ideas to run events featuring leading international thinkers;
  • seeding activities and projects that can make a difference.

Please visit the Grand Challenges SharePoint site for further information and to submit your ideas.

UNSW alone can’t solve all the Grand Challenges, but as a community we can make a start.
