Applications for the UNSW Carers’ Support Fund are now open to staff and HDR students.

The UNSW Carers’ Support Fund helps UNSW staff and HDR students with parental and primary care responsibilities to develop their careers.

The grant scheme provides up to $2000 in funding for carers’ expenses while participating in approved activities supporting career development, such as conferences, workshops, symposiums or fieldwork.

The Carers’ Support Fund has replaced the Vice-Chancellor’s Childcare Support Fund for Women Researchers this year and the broadened eligibility criteria is:

  • all UNSW employees (professional and academic) and HDR students of all genders
  • funding can be used for both childcare and primary caring costs so that dependent children, parents, partners or family members can continue to be cared for
  • participation in a wider range of career development activities, such as networking and fieldwork.

UNSW is committed to supporting employees and HDR students to enhance their careers. The University recognises the challenges involved in balancing work-life responsibilities and fulfilling commitments as parents and primary carers.
