The state-of-the-art innovation hub caters for students participating in the Bachelor of Engineering Advanced (Honours) program, jointly delivered by UNSW and WSU.

The Parramatta Engineering Innovation Hub presents new opportunities for UNSW - not only in delivery of the Engineering Program but it also contributes to the EducateAT Parramatta Alliance goal to position Parramatta as a destination for education excellence. Established in 2021, the EducateAT Parramatta Alliance united universities that have a presence in Parramatta to advocate for the Western Sydney region.

Professor Maurice Pagnucco, Deputy Dean (Education) at UNSW Engineering commented on the exciting opportunities the new program offers students. "The joint Engineering program has been co-developed with WSU to offer students flexibility in their degree structure, with the opportunity to undertake advanced engineering subjects that draw on the expertise of both UNSW and Western Sydney University (WSU)."

UNSW Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Attila Brungs visited the Hub on Tuesday 14 June. Prof. Brungs said that UNSW is eager to ensure its mission for positive impact is not limited by its traditional campus footprint in the city’s east.

“Innovation is part of UNSW’s DNA and we are proud to have joined forces with WSU to provide this premier engineering program in Western Sydney.”

“Our presence in the Parramatta CBD builds on UNSW’s engagement in Greater Sydney and provides a platform for future collaborations with new and existing partners to address local needs,” Prof. Brungs said.

The Engineering Hub is one of several projects currently underway in partnership with Western Sydney University. UNSW is committed to working in partnership with WSU and Western Sydney communities to develop cutting-edge research and education initiatives in areas such as aviation, entrepreneurship, liveable communities and lifetime learning affirmations right across Sydney.

The custom-designed premises offer a series of studio-style labs alongside casual spaces for staff and students. The Hub, while supporting the joint Engineering Program, is also suitable for outreach workshops, forums or events. The space, located on Level 5 of the new complex at 6 Hassall St, Parramatta, is bookable via UNSW Hospitality by emailing parramattainnovationhub@unsw.edu.au.
