UNSW Sydney and YMCA have agreed to terminate the contract for the UNSW Fitness & Aquatic Centre.
After seven years serving the UNSW community, the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has made The Y (YMCA) NSW's continued operation of the on-campus pool and gym facilities unviable.
The University and YMCA have mutually agreed to terminate the contract for the UNSW Fitness & Aquatic Centre. We thank The Y NSW for their management over the past seven years.
All fees have been stopped and current memberships are being cancelled. Memberships will not automatically transfer to the new operator. Where customers have paid in advance for a membership or service that was not able to be delivered, YMCA will contact customers to organise the applicable refund.
We understand this closure has caused inconvenience to the University’s students, staff and the local community. UNSW values the important fitness and leisure amenity that the facility provides and is committed to finding a new management partner as a matter of priority.
The University looks forward to reopening the facility in the near future with a new operator for the UNSW community to enjoy these facilities once again.
