Professor Anne Simmons

UNSW is delighted to announce that Professor Anne Simmons has been appointed to the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Excellence). The PVC (Academic Excellence) is responsible for working with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic to drive high quality academic performance across UNSW in pursuit of the 2025 Strategy.

Anne’s background and capabilities make her an ideal person for this role. After a career in industry, Anne joined our Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering. In 2006, she took on the role of Head of the School and then subsequently moved to head our School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. In the latter position, she transformed the academic performance and trajectory of the School and led a building program that has significantly boosted the research and teaching performance.

Upon becoming the Strategic Portfolio Lead in 2016, Anne was tasked with driving the implementation of the Academic Excellence initiatives of the 2025 Strategy. This included leading a team that designed and implemented a valuable new career pathway for Education Focused academic staff, and analysing and documenting academic performance.

Please join us in congratulating Anne on this well-deserved appointment.
