The Lounge

After a successful soft launch, The Lounge is now taking bookings for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

More than 1,000 employees and their guests have visited and dined at The Lounge during its soft launch phase over the last two weeks. From 20 May, the new staff space will officially open and every UNSW staff member will be able to have a taste of the fresh menu, and enjoy the stunning interiors and brilliant views from its Level 11 location in the Library Tower.

The smart dining experience has been designed to cater to the needs of busy UNSW staff.

“We understand the needs of busy staff and are working towards a 30-minute lunch promise; guests will be seated and billed within 30 minutes, making it perfect for those who only have a short time for lunch,” said Gregg Currie, Head of Hospitality.

“We have received some really great feedback about our food, ambience and prompt service from colleagues who have been to The Lounge during the soft launch.”

The weekly menu options have been selected with fresh, sustainable, seasonal produce in mind and will change every Monday. Menus for the upcoming four weeks are available on The Lounge website.  All food is cooked in the Lounge kitchen.

Timing of meals served at The Lounge include:

  • Breakfast from 7am-9am
  • Lunch from 12pm-2:30pm
  • Dinner from 6pm-8:30pm
  • A small selection of finger food and canapes will also be available from 9am-5:30pm

“The beverage menu is a carefully curated range, with boutique Australian beers, wines and spirits. Each have their own unique stories and an unparalleled taste profile,” said Shane Carter, Manager of The Lounge, who handpicked the beverage menu.

“Coffee will be supplied by socially-conscious roasters Single O from Sydney’s Inner West, and award-winning Newcastle-based Tea Collective will be providing a selection of specialty teas.”

Free Nespresso coffee will be available all day.

Each week, one wine and beer from this exclusive menu will be showcased and available for $5 during Social Hour from 5-6 pm. Three traditional cocktails, each with a unique UNSW spin, the Scientia Negroni, The Lounge Sour and Level 11 Spritz, will also be offered.

Whilst bookings are essential to secure a table for lunch and dinner, walk-ins are welcome for coffee and tea outside of designated hours.

Staff are welcome to book the venue for all kinds of events, from small groups in the semi-private cabanas to large functions. The Lounge can also be booked for private University and staff-held events on weekends.

The Lounge will officially open on 20 May, so get your bookings in quick by visiting the website.
