R U Ok? Day

Hear from R U OK? Day co-founder Graeme Cowan and join a range of activities, including 2-for-1 gelato and coffee offers.  

R U OK? is a national movement that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives. 

Join your colleagues in the Science Theatre at 2pm on Thursday 11 September for a special event for all staff, followed by afternoon tea. 

Guest speaker Graeme Cowan is a founding board director of R U OK?, the author of four books, a senior leader and has lived experience of depression. He’ll share his journey building an R U OK? 365 Culture.

There’ll be a Q&A, and afternoon tea will be served in the Science Theatre foyer after the event.

Schedule

  • 2pm: event commences - introduction by Professor Vlado Perkovic, UNSW Provost
  • 2.05pm: keynote speech - Graeme Cowan
  • 2.45pm:  Q&A moderated by Gemma Martin, UNSW Chief People Officer
  • 2.55pm: lucky door prize draw
  • 3pm: afternoon tea

All staff are invited to attend the event either in person or via the livestream. Staff who attend in person may go into the draw for a lucky door prize! 

Places are limited and registration is essential. Register for the special event.

Suicide Prevention Training

UNSW currently provides suicide prevention training to students and staff. The Recognise and Respond: Suicide Prevention for Everyday Life course from the Black Dog Institute will help you feel confident in responding and providing support to a friend, family member or colleague who might be at risk of suicide. Recognise and Respond is a self-paced online course which takes approximately one hour to complete.
