The Insight Survey is back – see what we’ve achieved so far based on your feedback.
The Insight staff engagement survey launches on Wednesday 3 September, giving you an opportunity to share your experience of working at UNSW.
We are committed to listening to your experiences and acting on what matters most. Since launching the first Insight Survey in 2023, your feedback has driven change across the University.
What’s been achieved so far
You told us you wanted to see improvements in innovation and leadership, and we’ve made progress in both areas at a UNSW level.
In leadership, we have expanded our development programs, offering over 775 places across six programs in 2025 to support more leaders than ever before. These programs provide space for leaders to reflect, connect and strengthen their leadership capability.
In innovation, we established an Innovation Working Group made up of 15 academic and professional staff from across UNSW. Their recommendations led to the creation of the UNSW Innovation Hub, which is now helping staff explore and apply innovative ideas in their work.
Dr Carly Vickers, Director, UNSW Innovation Hub, shared, “by listening to our innovation portfolios and mapping their processes, strengths and insights, we’re building an ecosystem where everyone can learn from each other’s expertise, share resources, experiences, spaces, for the benefit of the groups they work with, across UNSW - staff, students and alumni
Your feedback in the 2024 Pulse survey said you have seen some of these improvements, with both leadership and innovation rating more favourably.
Your feedback has also influenced major decisions, like the academic calendar. We heard your concerns about workload and timing, and your responses in the Insight survey helped us understand how important it is to get this right. That feedback formed an important part of the extensive consultation across UNSW, resulting in the upcoming launch of the new flex-semester calendar in 2028.
Adeline Siva, who is leading the Academic Calendar Project, highlighted, “the feedback provided through the last Insight Survey has been invaluable in shaping our understanding of what matters most for the academic calendar. We appreciate the engagement to date, as this input has directly informed the calendar planning and decision-making process. We are now at a stage where our focus can shift from shaping the calendar to planning the transition and working together to ensure its successful implementation.”
