Have your say on UNSW's Assessment and Progression Policy

The policy is part of the Policy Transformation Program which aims to simplify and transform our policies the University’s policy framework.

UNSW’s new Assessment and Progression Policy and supporting instructions are now open for community consultation until Thursday 18 September 2025. 

This policy aims to support and assure a student’s learning while they progress through their studies towards successful completion and is the first academic policy to go online for consultation. The consultation draft contains the Assessment and Feedback Procedures and the Academic Progression Procedures, which will supersede the existing assessment and academic progression policies and procedures. 

The assessment and feedback requirements have been developed specifically to address gaps in the current procedures, the academic progression requirements have not changed from current practice. 

The policy has been drafted by a team of subject-matter experts, incorporating extensive input from a stakeholder group consisting of students and academic staff. This collaborative approach ensures it’s well-informed, follows best practice and is fit for purpose.
