Student showcase

The Student Experience Program (SX) is a strategic initiative to improve student outcomes and satisfaction across their entire time at UNSW from offer to graduation.

The Student Experience (SX) team recently facilitated their first program-wide showcase. The event celebrated the incredible work happening across UNSW to create brilliant experiences for our students.

Staff and students were invited to hear about the vision and impact of the SX Program and explore the team’s collaborative work through interactive displays and storytelling while connecting with colleagues from across the University.

Program Sponsor Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience Professor Sarah Maddison thanked attendees, calling out the contributions of the SX Program working group and consultation members.

The SX Program is co-created with students to ensure the changes made are those that students value most. Prof. Maddison highlighted the invaluable input of UNSW students as part of the program’s Student Reference Group. This group comprises dedicated undergraduate and postgraduate students who share feedback and constructively challenge work across the program.

At the event, the SX team recognised key stakeholders from each workstream who’ve been instrumental in helping to achieve many goals this year. Some of these people include:

  • Benjamin Pace, May Lim and Fiacre Rougieux for contributions to the Assessment & Feedback work.
  • Nick Fahy, Blair Slater and the entire Student Communications team for their collaboration and support of the Belonging & Onboarding team
  • Karin Banna and Nicola Cupples whose dedication and investment of time have been instrumental in the success of the Program Simplification workstream.
  • Ria Renfrey, David Ellem, Nabila Namira and Claire McGill who coordinated stakeholders, guided resource planning and assisted the Student Lifecyle Processes team in the delivery of their work.

The SX Program and UNSW strategy in action

The SX Program is strongly aligned with the UNSW Strategy: Progress for All Pillar 1 - Through accessible education, empower current and future generations.

Through work on assessment transformation, the SX team is empowering current and future generations by ensuring high-quality, future-ready learning and maintaining academic integrity in an era of generative AI. Initiatives such as the UNSW Belonging Framework and Food Security Strategy reflect our shared commitment to equity, wellbeing and inclusion, shaped through consultation and collaboration across faculties and divisions.

The Program Simplification workstream supports equitable, flexible study pathways and strengthened academic quality, while the Digital Student Experience Roadmap is transforming how students connect with learning and university life through a more intuitive, personalised digital environment (Pillar 5).

If you missed the event, you can watch the Showcase wrap-up reel or visit the SX Program SharePoint site to find out more.
