Fun for all at UNSW Community Day

Community Day

On Wednesday 26 November, lower campus was alive with activity, roving performers and live music from local artists.

More than 6000 registered attendees made their way to the Kensington campus for UNSW Community Day, despite some unpredictable weather beforehand!

The campus was packed with people, as UNSW staff, their families and friends joined the celebration. Roving performers dressed as ibises and kangaroos engaged with attendees while local Maroubra and First Nations hip hop performer Kobie Dee entertained.

Alumni Park and Helen Maguire Lawn transformed into a festival-like playground, where the creative-at-heart could make their own shellwork or stone art, join the colouring-in station or be inspired by the Clancy the Lion art competition display.

UNSW staff, their families and friends made their own stone art.

Pot-a-plant and slime-play were popular hands-on activities, while face painting and temporary tattoos brought an extra splash of colour and creativity.

Attendees also created their own bee hotels, met NSW SES and Fire Rescue workers, played lawn games and made smoothies using blenders powered by them riding bikes.

A roving performer, big bubbles and a joyful crowd of attendees.

All the food favourites were available, including the ever-popular chips-on-a-stick, wood fired pizza, paella, dumplings burgers and desserts from Tokyo Lamington.

Thank you to everyone who came and made the afternoon such a delight for all ages.
