The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are returning in 2026, with nominations opening on Monday 20 April.
These awards recognise the people and teams who make a difference at UNSW every day; not just through what they deliver, but in how they work, how they lead and how they support others.
Before nominations open, now is a good time to start noticing the people around you who make your work easier, better or more meaningful. You probably already know who they are.
Recognise the behaviours that drive our culture
From Monday 20 April, you can nominate colleagues for any of the five Values in Action awards or three Leadership Signatures awards.
In the lead-up to nominations opening, take a moment to notice the people around you who are making a difference, embodying UNSW values and leadership culture. Consider both those who are quietly achieving behind the scenes as well as those who are more visible. You might notice someone who:
• gives feedback in a way that feels constructive and caring (Assume the best)
• treats mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve (Progress over perfection)
• brings diverse people together to achieve better outcomes (Excellence through inclusion)
• communicates openly and builds trust with others (Respect)
• is always looking for a better way to solve a problem (Innovation)
• builds strong, trusting relationships that make work easier for everyone (Collaboration).
These are just some examples of contributions the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards recognise.
Get ready to nominate
From Monday 20 April, you’ll be able to nominate a colleague or team across a range of award categories.
If someone comes to mind straightaway, make a note, and come back to nominate them when entries open.
You’ll also find guidance on how to write a strong nomination, along with examples, on the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards site.
Nominations close on Monday 18 May.
