Find out what’s happening as UNSW prepares for the launch of our Bengaluru campus.
As UNSW prepares for the launch of our Bengaluru campus in July this year, teams across the University are working together to turn ambition into reality, shaping a new campus that reflects UNSW’s global outlook, academic strengths and commitment to student experience.
Over recent months, teams across the University have focused on turning plans into action, advancing regulatory requirements, establishing systems and operations, and preparing the student experience, workforce and campus ahead of the first intake in August.
A significant focus has been putting the building blocks of the student experience in place. Staff are developing playbooks that set out how key aspects of the student journey, ranging from admissions through to orientation, study support and progression, will work in the Bengaluru context. It’s supported by a central knowledge base that brings together approved UNSW Bengaluru materials in one place.
The program team has made significant progress on key initiatives for the Bengaluru campus. University Grants Commission (UGC) in India requirements were submitted on 31 March, and the inspection is scheduled for 14 May, anticipating the Letter of Commencement (LoC) for the campus at the end of May.
Workforce recruitment is well underway, with the Chief Financial Officer and Associate Director of Human Resource commencing on 1 April 2026, the Chief Operating Officer to commence on 1 May 2026. The Rector and the Admissions and Enrolment Manager appointment is now at offer stage, while all academic roles are currently at the interview stage, thanks to the UNSW staff supporting the process and our Emeritus partner.
Student recruitment activities have launched with more than 150 applications received. Planning is well advanced for a late April Open Day and early June Info Day in Bengaluru as part of the conversation process.
Development of the IT roadmap is progressing, with key milestones achieved including MDX prospective student expression of interest data and application data exchange. We have confirmation of the technology stack and revised IT planning, the rollout of a Payments Solution Phase 1 and configuration of the academic calendar in SiMs, alongside ongoing access management and cyber assurance assessments (including Emeritus our partner systems).
Construction of the new UNSW Bengaluru campus is progressing well, with the fit-out phase now actively underway and tracking to revised plan. Practical completion is expected by 30 May 2026, followed by handover in June 2026.
