We encourage academic staff to self-nominate for and vote in the 2025 elections.

Academic staff can participate in the 2025 staff elections to the Academic Board and Faculty Boards as candidates and voters. Self-nominations open on Wednesday 20 August 2025 at 9am and close on Wednesday 27 August 2025 at 4pm.

The Academic Board, as the principal academic body of the University:

  • oversees academic governance and maintenance of academic standards
  • advises the Vice-Chancellor and Council on the conduct and standards of teaching, scholarship and research
  • liaises with the faculties and makes recommendations to Council
  • elects the President and two Deputy Presidents of the Academic Board.

Faculty Boards consider and provide advice to the Dean on academic matters in the faculty. This includes oversight of:

  • the review of proposals for the establishment and revision of courses and programs
  • the quality of teaching and research.

Faculty Boards also perform functions delegated to them by Council.

These boards play an important role at UNSW. We encourage you to participate in the elections, both as a candidate and a voter.

Academic staff will receive emails from BigPulse, UNSW’s online election provider, with instructions on how to submit self-nominations in August and then how to vote when the elections open in September.

You'll find election notices and details on the Elections website. For further enquiries, contact Governance at elections@unsw.edu.au.
