The videos highlight the actions we can all take action to keep our campuses secure.
A new series of UNSW security awareness videos is now available to help staff better understand the role they play in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment. Videos are embedded in mandatory training modules and shared through relevant channels with staff and students. They’ll also be distributed to external campuses, including Canberra and rural sites.
These short, practical videos cover key topics including tailgating and unauthorised access, UNSW’s clear desk policy, locking your screen, protecting ID cards, and identifying suspicious behaviour. They were developed as part of a broader initiative to promote everyday security practices in a way that’s accessible, relevant, and easy to engage with.
The key message behind the videos is simple: security is everyone’s responsibility. Whether you work behind a desk, move between labs and offices, or support front-facing services, there are small actions each of us can take that contribute to a safer environment for all.
The videos are available in two formats – widescreen (16:9) for desktops and presentation use, and mobile-friendly (9:16) versions for quick viewing on phones or internal channels.

Staff are encouraged to take a few minutes to watch and share these videos across their teams. By staying aware and supporting these basic practices, we can each help contribute to a safer, more secure campus community.
