A playbook and triennium roadmaps are being developed to help staff make progress for all a reality.
In February 2025, UNSW Sydney officially launched our new strategy – UNSW Strategy: Progress for All – an ambitious plan that will guide our priorities and direction for the next decade. This strategy reaffirms our mission: to deliver positive impact for all parts of society globally, through teaching, learning, research and engagement.
Our focus shifts now from planning to action. Implementation is underway – and through our work, each of us has a part to play. Whether by leading or contributing to strategic initiatives, championing successes, providing the support networks or ensuring accountability, we are all important to Progress for All becoming a reality.
The Strategy Office
This is a foundational year for the strategy, and we are committed to ensuring all staff are supported with the tools, guidance and processes needed to contribute meaningfully. To that end, a dedicated Strategy Office has been established under Vinita Chanan, Executive Director, University Strategy in the Office of the Provost, to work with teams across UNSW, providing support and coordination to drive delivery.
The Strategy Office will collaborate closely with existing functions of the University to ensure strategic planning, delivery and reporting are streamlined and that work is integrated with the Societal Impact Framework.
The Strategy Implementation Playbook
To support staff in this work, a Strategy Implementation Playbook is being developed by the Enterprise-wide Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) in partnership with the Strategy Office. The playbook will serve as a practical guide for initiating and managing projects aligned to the strategy. It will include a streamlined process on decision-making, prioritisation, accountability, funding, reporting and evaluation – helping staff bring initiatives to life in a strategic and coordinated way. The playbook is expected to be ready for roll-out to staff by September.
Triennium Roadmaps
Our 10-year strategy will be delivered in three trienniums, with 2025 our foundational year. The Triennium One Roadmap is being created now to guide staff on the key areas of focus for the University and the initiatives and success measures that will get us there. The aim is to finalise this first roadmap, covering 2026–2028, by the end of September 2025. UNSW’s Planning & Performance (UPP) team will ensure that the 2026 Operational Plan is aligned with the Triennium One Roadmap.
The Playbook and Triennium Roadmaps, alongside our operational plans, will embed Progress for All into the fabric of how we work at UNSW – turning our shared ambition into impactful outcomes for communities near and far. Updates will be available soon.
