In February 2024, we will commence a University-wide consultation process to identify areas where UNSW can have the greatest positive impact on society.
The Discussion Paper: Developing UNSW’s Societal Impact Framework Together is now available to read in preparation for University-wide consultations. The purpose of the paper is to create a shared understanding of what UNSW’s Societal Impact Framework is aiming to achieve and the importance of the consultations as a key source of insights. A shared understanding will help elicit relevant feedback and focus the discussions during the consultations. It’s expected that many early ideas or examples in the paper will undergo changes as we listen, learn and reconsider during the consultations.
All our professional and academic staff contribute to our societal impact and are invited to register to participate in the workshops held at UNSW Kensington (territory of the Bedegal people) and UNSW Canberra (territory of the Ngunnawal people), with dedicated sessions for Indigenous peoples.
The Societal Impact Framework consultations include students, staff and our extended UNSW community including alumni, government representatives, philanthropists, and industry and non-profit leaders, and form one stream of a broader consultation process to define the next UNSW Strategy.
