Find out what’s happening at our India campus over the coming months.

Momentum is well and truly building around the UNSW Bengaluru campus initiative. Over the past few months, the project has moved from planning into delivery, with important regulatory milestones achieved, strong early interest from prospective students, and tangible progress across people, the campus and systems.  

The foundations were firmly laid in December 2025, with the signing of the Joint Venture Agreement between UNSW and Emeritus, formally establishing UNSW Bengaluru Private Limited. Shortly after, the University Grants Commission (UGC) in India issued UNSW with a Letter of Intent (LOI), signalling conditional regulatory approval to proceed with development of the Bengaluru campus. The UNSW Bengaluru brand and logo were finalised, the external-facing website went live with student Expression of Interests (EOIs) and brand videos, and the Bengaluru careers site launched with 35 roles advertised.

Interest in joining the initiative has been strong, with around 1500 applications received across all roles advertised. In January, the prospectus to formally signal the commencement of student recruitment went live, and the campus location, layout and fit-out design were agreed. Tuition fees and scholarship structures, including a 10% award for Indian citizens, were approved by our Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Attila Brungs.

Early campaign performance has been extremely encouraging, and by mid-February there have been more than 38,000 unique visitors to the website, more than 1450 enquiries and close to 1450 student EOIs. The Degree Finder has been published, the campus lease signed, and the first round of interviews for the Rector, Chief Business Officer and Chief Financial Officer are all underway. Interviews for key support and academic roles have been scheduled and will progress during February. 

What’s next?

Campus build and design contracts will be signed and onsite construction activity will commence in the coming weeks. UNSW Open Days will be held across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Coimbatore from 20 to 23 February, supporting recruitment activity ahead of the opening of online applications in March.
