UNSW’s largest event of the year is an opportunity to welcome curious high school students, their parents and carers, postgraduate students, alumni and the community to our vibrant campus.
UNSW’s 2026 Open Day will be held on Saturday 5 September from 9am to 4pm.
Building on the University’s 10-year strategy, Open Day continues to be guided by Progress for All, with this year’s event exploring how education empowers people to create meaningful progress for themselves, their communities and the world. Throughout the day, visitors will experience how progress comes from diversity of thinking and how a UNSW education empowers students to create meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
“Open Day provides an important opportunity to welcome prospective students and their families to campus, showcasing why UNSW is Australia’s #1 university and ranked among the world’s top 20 universities,” says Sofia Lloyd-Jones, Executive Director, Marketing & Digital Experience.
“It is an opportunity to demonstrate together what makes learning with UNSW distinctive – our dynamic student life, our globally impactful degrees, our societal impact focus and, most importantly, the people who bring our community to life. Through meeting with our inspiring staff, student ambassadors and alumni, we’re helping future students see what’s possible for their own lives. We sincerely appreciate the effort across our entire university community that makes Open Day such an engaging and inclusive experience.”
At the heart of campus will be our Build Blocks of Progress interactive installation. Inspired by the idea that progress is never complete, attendees will be invited to contribute to a large-scale sculptural artwork. As the installation grows throughout the day, it will become a collective expression of the ideas, ambitions and aspirations of our future students and the wider community. The activation will also showcase examples of UNSW’s impact across sustainability, health, economic and social prosperity, and societal resilience, bringing the University’s commitment to Progress for All to life.
From diverse admission pathways to scholarships and tailored support services, UNSW is committed to expanding access and supporting student success wherever a student’s journey begins. Visitors can explore the Your Pathway to UNSW advisory zone to discover the many pathways available and hear firsthand from current students about their own journeys to university, reinforcing that there’s more than one pathway to progress.
“Open Day is only possible because of the incredible commitment of our staff, students and volunteers across the University. Every lecture, demonstration, campus tour and conversation helps bring the UNSW experience to life. Thank you to everyone who shares their expertise, passion and time. Your contribution helps future students see what’s possible, find the pathway that’s right for them and imagine the impact they can make with UNSW,” says Ms Lloyd-Jones.
