The University is sharing our progress on responsible and sustainable practices in our first biennial Communication on Engagement.
As a member of the UN Global Compact and the UN Global Compact Network Australia, UNSW has published our first biennial Communication on Engagement (CoE), covering the period from 1 August 2024 to 30 June 2026. It shows UNSW’s engagement with and progress on the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact across human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
As the University reflects on how we operate sustainably, we can also support the sector and the wider community by sharing the report with our stakeholders.
As a large education provider, employer and consumer of goods and services UNSW contributes to the Ten Principles through the full breadth of our activities, from education and research to engagement, operations and governance. Compiling the Communication on Engagement is a collaborative exercise that brings together expertise and activities from across the University, helping build a picture of our progress while identifying and supporting emerging good practice.
Since our establishment in 1949, UNSW has been guided by a distinctive purpose: to advance the public good through education, research and engagement. The University made the commitment to the Global Compact, the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative, in 2024 as part of our Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) program and our commitment to positive societal impact, articulated through our UNSW Strategy: Progress for All and underpinned by the UNSW Societal Impact Framework.
