International Women’s Day (IWD) on Sunday 8 March celebrates women’s achievements, raises awareness of discrimination and issues directly affecting women around the world, and encourages action to create gender parity.
This March, events at UNSW will celebrate women at the University and encourage conversations about this year’s theme, Balance the Scales.
Canberra campus morning tea

You are warmly invited to a light morning tea and the unveiling of UNSW Canberra’s new corflute cubes, which shine light on incredible research projects and initiatives from across the Faculty. The cubes showcase the academic and professional women contributing to any form of education, research, initiative or project that:
- advances gender equity
- empowers women and girls
- breaks barriers in STEM, Defence or cyber-related fields.

Yael Stone: Giving to gain

Women’s mentoring session

The Scientia Professors’ Forum invites women (cis and trans) and gender diverse colleagues to a special women’s mentoring event, focusing on the idea of ‘How to Build a Collaborative Academy’.
The event will include a mix of panel and small-group discussions among attendees about the promise and pitfalls of this ideal.
It will feature Scientia Professors Jane McAdam (UNSW Law & Justice), Carla Treloar (UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture) and Pauline Grosjean (UNSW Business School) in conversation with former Scientia Professor Forum Chair Professor Rosalind Dixon.
