Ahead of gathering this term’s feedback from students, learn how to best utilise the survey with a series of peer-led sessions for staff.

From 8–25 April, UNSW Sydney students can participate in the Term 1 myExperience survey, an end-of-session survey covering how students engage with their courses.

Join a series of events for staff in April and May to help you prepare for the myExperience survey, from gathering responses to the comment review process and making sense of the data. These informal, peer-led sessions have been designed to help you to make the most of the myExperience process, ensuring the feedback you receive works best for you and your teaching.

Sessions will be led by Associate Professor Kevin Liu from UNSW Business School, Dr Nicole Saintilan from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Quality Portfolio, Dr May Lim from UNSW Engineering and Dr Vanessa Honson from UNSW Medicine & Health.

Conducting the survey with your students

We recommend setting aside a few minutes of class time, midway through the lesson with the most attendance, to conduct the survey. Staff who devote class time to the survey often have a higher response rate and a more accurate description of what their students think.

Downloadable resources are available to show in class, and we recommend educators follow these guides when communicating about the survey:

  • Tell your students about the value of honest and constructive feedback, and that myExperience data is used to make changes to course
  • Explain how the myExperience survey not only provides you and other academic staff with valuable information, but also makes a difference to the next group of students taking the course
  • If possible, share examples of how you have changed your courses based on student feedback. You can do this by using myFeedback matters inside the course Moodle.
