The new Research Policy is now open for UNSW Community consultation until Wednesday 29 July.
Our Research Policy supports UNSW's commitment to responsible and ethical research. It sets out the principles for the conduct, management and governance of research activities. It promotes transparency, integrity and excellence while supporting compliance with relevant legislation, codes and standards.
The policy will apply to all research activities conducted by or on behalf of UNSW and must be followed by everyone at UNSW and our controlled entities.
Currently, the consultation draft consists of a principles and objectives section and four procedures. There will also be additional instruction-level documents that support the policy and which will be made available when it’s published.
The consultation draft streamlines existing requirements and will replace:
- Animal Research Ethics Procedure
- Centres and Institutes Procedure
- Cold Storage Procedure
- Human Research Ethics Procedure
- Radiation Research Procedure
- Regulated Biological Materials Research Procedure
- Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Procedure
- Research Authorship and Publication Dispute Management Procedure
- Research Export Controls Procedure
- Responsible Peer Review Procedure
- Research Authorship, Publication and Dissemination Policy.
Read the draft policy on the UNSW policy website. The draft policy is part of the Policy Transformation Program, which is simplifying and improving the University’s policy framework.
A team of subject matter experts developed the policy with extensive input from the University Research Committee (URC) to ensure it reflects good practice and meets the University's ongoing research needs.
