This year, UNSW Sydney has reached our student equity target, with one in four commencing domestic undergraduate students now coming from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a significant milestone in our commitment to widening access and ensuring talented students, regardless of their circumstances, can benefit from a UNSW education. Many of you see the impact of this in our classrooms and on campus.

Workplace Giving program

While we celebrate this progress, we know there is more to do to sustain and expand these opportunities. As the end of the financial year approaches, you can support students through a payroll deduction via the UNSW Workplace Giving program.

Your donation will enable students who might not have the means otherwise, to attend UNSW. And, your gift will be matched by UNSW, doubling the impact of every dollar.

Equity Scholarship recipient Katherine said donor support changed her future.

“I always knew I wanted to pursue higher education, but I wasn't sure how I would get there as the first in my family to attend university. UNSW Gateway provided an early offer pathway and linked scholarships which made university possible".

"I wouldn’t have been able to attend UNSW without the support of scholarships and donor-funded programs. Donations help students like me achieve our dreams."

Katherine’s parents came to Australia as refugees, having escaped severe discrimination and persecution in post-war Vietnam.  

“While they focused on making ends meet, I resolved that with enough hard work and dedication, I could change my circumstances and make my family proud by attending university".

Studying at UNSW has shown me that my background offers a valuable and necessary perspective. I am now in my fourth year of study, and through work experience opportunities and career development workshops, I’m proud to currently be working as a paralegal at a commercial law firm,” she said.
