Discover practical resources, training and tools to help navigate the curriculum transformation process.

Curriculum Transformation is underway at UNSW in preparation for the flex-semester academic calendar and in alignment with our Progress for All strategy. We are reimagining how we design and deliver our courses and programs to create a more adaptive, inclusive and future-focused learning experience for our students.

This work focuses on four interrelated areas: flex-semester alignment, program simplification including the new Program Design Procedure, assessment and feedback, and embedding Pedagogical Principles, which rearticulate what UNSW values in learning and teaching.

"Curriculum Transformation is a shared endeavour across the University," says Professor Christine Mathies, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Education (PVCE).

"Our goal is to support colleagues throughout the transition and work together to create the best possible learning and teaching outcomes for the entire community."

Looking for support?

The Curriculum and Education Design team in the PVCE portfolio, the Student Experience Program and Nexus teams are working together to provide a three-tiered support model, which includes practical resources, training, self-evaluation tools, one-to-one guidance and tailored faculty support.

In Term 1, a series of targeted Curriculum Transformation workshops for Program Authorities were delivered and recordings are available now on SharePoint. A second series will run in weeks 6 and 7 of Term 2, followed by a series for Course Convenors in Term 3. Bespoke workshops and training sessions are also being delivered across faculties and schools to address local needs and priorities.

At the Curriculum Transformation SharePoint site you can access resources including templates, guidebooks, frameworks and practical tools. The site continues to evolve as new resources and examples are being developed.

In 2026, the Teaching Commons serves as the central hub for Curriculum Transformation support, with drop-in sessions, workshops and events from Tuesday to Thursday.

If you have questions about Curriculum Transformation or would like to request support for your team, please contact: curriculum.pvce@unsw.edu.au or your local education support colleagues.

Share your expertise, progress and learnings

Curriculum Transformation will be significantly strengthened by drawing on the expertise and knowledge that already exists across the University. From rethinking assessments to embedding inclusive teaching practices, educators across UNSW’s learning and teaching community are already championing Curriculum Transformation through their everyday work.

You are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to deliver a session related to teaching and curriculum design at the Teaching Commons in Term 2 or Term 3 on topics such as:

  • redesigning assessments and feedback
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • embedding Indigenous Knowledges
  • enhancing learner engagement
  • Lifelong Learning
  • any other Pedagogical Principles

Find out more and submit an EOI.
