UNSW’s Furniture Reuse store reopens

The relaunch of the UNSW Furniture Reuse store supports the University’s sustainability goals by making it easier for staff to reuse furniture across campus.

UNSW’s Furniture Reuse store has relaunched, with Grace Removals appointed to manage the service and support the ongoing reuse of furniture across our University.

The program helps extend the life of furniture and reduce waste by making pre-owned items available across UNSW campuses. Through the Furniture Reuse store, staff can browse available furniture and request items for their workspace before purchasing new furniture.

The program supports UNSW’s commitment to creating more sustainable resource-efficient campus operations. Reusing furniture helps minimise waste sent to landfill, reduces unnecessary purchasing and supports more circular approaches to resource use across our University.

Circular economy principles – including reuse, extending product life and reduce waste – are increasingly recognised as an important part of sustainable campus operations and environmental stewardship. Australia’s Circular Economy Framework identifies reuse and resource recover as key strategies to reduce waste and improve material efficiency.

The Furniture Reuse Program aligns with the University’s broader sustainability initiatives which focus on responsible campus operations, sustainable infrastructure and improving environmental outcomes across UNSW.

In addition to managing the Furniture Reuse store, Grace Removals provides furniture relocation, bulk waste removal and e-waste removal across UNSW. The transition supports streamlined campus operations while helping improve sustainable resource management across the University.

How the program works

Staff can:

• browse available furniture through the Furniture Reuse store
• request items for their workspace
• arrange delivery to UNSW locations
• support sustainable furniture reuse across campus.

Before purchasing new furniture, staff are encouraged to check the Furniture Reuse store first.
