Negotiations for UNSW's new Academic and Professional Staff Enterprise Agreements have been underway since August. Our Enterprise Agreements shape many aspects of your working life, covering important aspects of your employment including pay, leave, career opportunities and employment security.
Our goal is to negotiate agreements that are fair and competitive, provide greater clarity about your entitlements, and support a positive working experience at UNSW, while ensuring we can continue to deliver on our commitment to Progress for All.
Creating greater employment security
We know that employment security matters. Having greater certainty about your employment can make a real difference to your wellbeing, your career path and your ability to plan for the future.
That's why we're exploring opportunities through bargaining to strengthen pathways to more secure employment, particularly where work is ongoing in nature.
Making your agreements easier to understand
Your employment entitlements should be clear and accessible. Over time, our Enterprise Agreements have become increasingly complex, making it harder to understand how some provisions work in practice.
During the last round of bargaining we redrafted our agreements in plain English, and we are seeking to continue that work, making the agreements simpler, clearer and easier to navigate, so you can better understand your rights, responsibilities and entitlements.
Our aim is to reduce unnecessary complexity while maintaining appropriate protections and ensuring arrangements work fairly and consistently.
Your voice matters
Bargaining is an opportunity to consider not just the provisions in our agreements, but how they affect your experience of working at UNSW. We recognise that different people have different priorities, and we want to understand what matters most to you.
While negotiations take place with bargaining representatives, we also want to hear directly from you throughout the process. Your questions, experiences and perspectives are valuable in helping us understand where our agreements work well, where there are challenges and where improvements could make a meaningful difference.
