The Future Of series at UNSW House explores how creativity influences the forces transforming our world.

UNSW Sydney and Powerhouse Parramatta will host a series of free talks as part of the museum’s opening festival from 7–29 November.

The Future Of series at the UNSW House community and learning space connects cutting-edge UNSW research with the themes explored in the museum’s opening exhibitions. The talks will examine the impact of human creativity on the major forces shaping our world, including The Dark, Shopping, AI and History.

“In creating this program, we asked, ‘What can a university and a museum achieve together that neither can do alone?’ The Future Of represents the shared aspiration of UNSW and the Powerhouse to shape a better future for all through creativity and disruptive thinking,” said UNSW Program Co-Curator and Director of Research in the School of Art & Design Professor Lizzie Muller.

Program Co-Curator and Director, Strategic Events Michelle Gordon said: “The program connects cutting-edge insights from UNSW researchers to the topics explored in the Powerhouse’s extraordinary opening exhibitions. In the intimate atmosphere of UNSW House, the program makes space for meaningful conversations about big ideas.”

This series forms part of the broader three-year partnership between UNSW Sydney and Powerhouse Parramatta, bringing together research, creativity and public life in new and meaningful ways. It builds on a long history of collaboration between UNSW and the Powerhouse Museum across research, design and student engagement.
