Join us for the March Global Thematic Dialogue

13 Mar 2024
Global Thematic Dialogue

This online event will explore interdisciplinary collaboration and multidisciplinary partnerships for climate action within higher education.

Coordinated by the International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA), the Dialogue will explore the opportunities and roadblocks for fostering productive and thoughtful cultures of climate research.

There will be several ‘speed-talks’ (short case-studies and provocations), followed by a wider discussion where participants can contribute.

We will hear from speakers from universities around the world including New York University, University of Waikato, University of Nairobi and University of Oxford, as well as UNSW Sydney.

Some ideas and questions we might explore include:

  • What are the opportunities and roadblocks for forming partnerships across disciplines, schools, faculties and universities?
  • What are the opportunities and roadblocks for forming relationships between the sciences/social sciences/humanities for climate-related research?
  • Discipline silos and climate-related research.
  • What does a successful multidisciplinary relationship look like in climate-related research?
  • How can we translate knowledge across different disciplines?
  • Should we bring climate research into non-STEM areas, and non-STEM areas into climate research?
  • Collaborative networks and partnerships within higher education settings.
