‘Progress for All’ was front and centre at UNSW Open Day on Saturday, 6 September as we opened our doors to future students and their families.
More than 40,000 prospective students and their families dived into our vibrant community at UNSW Open Day 2025.
More than 1500 student ambassadors and staff welcomed attendees across the buzzing Kensington and Paddington campuses, showcasing the best of UNSW’s faculties, world-leading facilities and student life.
“Open Day provides an important opportunity to welcome prospective students and their families on campus, showcasing why we are a global top 20 university for the third consecutive year,” said Sofia Lloyd-Jones, Executive Director, Marketing & Digital Experience.
“From engaging lectures and advisory zones to tailored behind-the-scenes experiences, UNSW’s innovative and leading approach to education was on full display. Future students were met with everything they needed to make their university and study decisions with confidence.”
Our Open Day theme
This year’s Open Day theme was two-fold – bringing to life UNSW’s ‘Progress for All’ societal impact framework and showcasing the diverse pathways our students pursue to studying at UNSW.
A major artificial intelligence (AI) activation prompted attendees to explore the progress they could achieve with UNSW. This was complemented by an increased focus on admission pathways, including a dedicated advisory zone and a talk series that amplified the stories of current students who have entered UNSW through alternative pathways.
UNSW’s Gateway Admission Pathway Early Offer recipients were honoured in a special Gateway Brunch event that was held in the Sir John Clancy Auditorium. Faculty and divisional leaders gathered to congratulate hundreds of students and their families, formally welcoming them to the UNSW community.
The day also featured more than 250 faculty and student life lectures, behind-the-scenes tours, activities and student life experiences activated by our faculties and campus community.
“Prospective students were able to connect with experts – academics and current students – to have their questions answered, while also experiencing the vibrant and inclusive campus life that sets us apart,” said Sofia.
“With each interaction, we highlighted our dynamic learning community and commitment to supporting student success. Congratulations and thank you to all the dedicated teams of academics, professional staff and current students across our faculties and divisions who made this year’s Open Day another fantastic success.”
The tremendous turnout at Open Day 2025 signals a promising outlook for the University’s future intakes. As high school leavers' minds shift towards final exams and study plans, this year’s Open Day places UNSW top of mind.
