The 2026 University Annual Plan sets out the initiatives that will drive progress for this year.

What’s in the University Annual Plan
The 2026 University Annual Plan includes 48 priority initiatives across the University:
- 34 initiatives aligned to the five Impact Pathway Pillars in our UNSW Strategy: Progress for All
- 14 initiatives aligned to the four Impact Focus Area Pillars in the UNSW Societal Impact Framework.
The plan links University-wide strategic priorities and the Triennium One Roadmap with faculty and divisional operational plans, supporting coordinated and transparent delivery across UNSW.
Each initiative will be delivered within the year and will include clear targets and key performance indicators (KPIs). The plan focuses on strategic priorities not business-as-usual activity and ensures we remain agile to address immediate challenges while advancing our long-term ambitions.
The initiatives span multiple pillars, reflecting the interconnected nature of the strategy and our shared mission to deliver transformative education, innovative research and meaningful engagement in Australia and globally.

Share your ideas
With our 2026 priorities in place, we’re inviting staff across the University to contribute ideas that will shape future initiatives.
“Now that we’ve laid the foundation for our strategy, set our first three-year roadmap and outlined our strategic initiatives for 2026, we want to keep building on our progress by welcoming new ideas from staff across the University,” said Provost Professor Vlado Perkovic.
“This will help us identify the opportunities that best meet the evolving needs of our University community over the life of our 10-year strategy.”
Embedding the progress for all ambition into our daily work is a shared responsibility. If you have an idea aligned to our strategy whether it relates to education, research, operations, partnerships or how we work together we encourage you to share it.
The Strategy Office is working with the UNSW Innovation Hub as our design thinking partner to support early-stage ideas through workshops and practical tools that help shape and strengthen proposals.
