Two important reminders as we begin the new financial year.
You can now access your 2025/2026 tax and superannuation Income Statement through the myGov website.
If you use a registered tax agent, they will also be able to access your finalised tax and superannuation information when preparing and lodging your tax return.
As in previous years, UNSW does not issue end-of-year payment summaries. Income Statements are made available directly through the ATO.
If you have not already done so, you may wish to set up a myGov account and link it to the ATO so you can access your Income Statement and tax information online.
Payday Super now in effect
From 1 July 2026, new Payday Super legislation came into effect across Australia. The change requires employers to pay superannuation guarantee contribution in line with employees’ regular pay cycles, rather than on a quarterly basis.
UNSW already pays superannuation contributions on a fortnightly basis. This means that for most staff, there is no change to remuneration, nominated superannuation fund or existing superannuation arrangements, and no action is required.
What you may notice is that superannuation contributions are expected to reach your nominated super fund sooner than under the previous quarterly legislative requirements.
Staff with more complex super arrangements may wish to understand how the legislative changes apply to their individual circumstances or you may also seek independent financial advice.
Further information is available on the Superannuation HR Hub page, ATO website or through your super fund.
