UNSW students and staff are invited to apply for grants of up to $2500 to run events or activities that celebrate the diversity of our community.
UNSW’s Diversity Festival returns in September, bringing together students, staff and the community for a week of free events designed to ignite important conversations about inclusion, belonging and societal impact.
Last year’s record-breaking festival brought together more than 8000 attendees across 35+ memorable experiences, from interactive workshops to creative performances.
Grant applications are now open
Each year the festival is shaped by our community, so for the seventh festival, we’re again inviting you to contribute to the program by submitting an application to host an event.
Grants of up to $2500 are available to support initiatives that explore topics and themes including:
- age diversity
- cultural and linguistic diversity
- disability community
- diverse sexualities, sexes and genders
- gender equity
- mental health and neurodivergence
- widening participation
- sustainability and sustainable development.
Applications for creative and contemporary formats are encouraged, though familiar approaches like panel discussions and forums are also welcome. These could include:
- art exhibitions
- creative or technical workshops/demonstrations
- film screenings
- live music and performances
- online events
- social gatherings
- webinars.
Whether you're academic or professional staff, based in a faculty, school or central team, this is your chance to create something meaningful and inclusive.
To learn more about running an event for Diversity Festival or to submit your idea, apply before Monday 9 June.
If you don’t require funding but have a great idea, you should still submit a proposal to be part of the program.
Conversations about equity, diversity and inclusion have never been more important and we look forward to receiving event submissions from across our community.
Get inspired
In 2024, a discussion and Q&A on Trump’s America and the Future of Diversity, a panel on Forced Migration with the Kaldor Centre and a webinar exploring Disability in Crisis and Natural Disaster organised by the Australian Human Rights Institute and UNSW’s Disability Innovation Institute stood out as highlights.
