Mandatory training

Do your part to keep our UNSW community safe and secure.

Every day, UNSW staff interact with information, whether it’s emails, research data or meeting minutes. How we handle this information plays a critical role in keeping it secure.

At UNSW, keeping our data and our information protected isn’t just a job for our data custodians or IT experts, it’s something all our people contribute to. We are committed to maintaining an environment where our people, and the integrity of their work, are safe and secure. As part of this commitment, we are proud to launch our latest instalment of our all-staff mandatory training, Security@UNSW.

Security@UNSW starts with you

On 20 May 2025, UNSW launched a new all-staff mandatory training module, Security@UNSW. This training covers Cyber Security Awareness, Recordkeeping, Foundations of Privacy and Data Governance.

In this 25-minute course, you will learn how to:

  • manage personal and UNSW information securely with everyday best practices
  • recognise and respond to cyber security threats and data breaches
  • understand cyber responsibilities as a UNSW staff member
  • find the right tools and support when needed.

All UNSW staff (continuing, fixed-term and casual) are required to complete Security@UNSW on Moodle. The extended completion timeframe to one month means you can engage with the content at a time that works best for you!
