The Peer Mentoring Hub supports staff and students with their mentoring programs.
The Peer Mentoring Hub provides structure, resources and support so that mentors and coordinators can focus on what matters most – helping students feel they belong.
The hub is designed to alleviate issues uncovered by a University-wide review of peer mentoring, conducted by the Student Experience Program’s Belonging & Onboarding team. It brings everything together – training, resources and support – so that staff and students can spend less time navigating logistics and more time building meaningful connections for first-year students.
What is the Peer Mentoring Hub?
Launching ahead of Term 1 2026, the Peer Mentoring Hub will provide coordinated support for all peer mentoring programs across UNSW.
Services include:
- annual program registration and affiliation
- centralised training and professional development
- access to evidence-informed resources and templates
- one-on-one consultations for new and existing programs
- promotional support and visibility
- seed funding through small grants.
Benefits for mentors
Student mentors will have clearer access to mentoring opportunities, structured training and formal recognition through digital credentials and a Higher Education Graduate Statement (AHEGS). Peer mentoring program coordinators, including staff, will benefit from expert guidance, shared resources and streamlined processes.
The Peer Mentoring Hub supports UNSW’s strategic priorities by improving student engagement during transition, delivering scalable and quality-assured programs, and developing graduate capabilities and future-focused skills. It also strengthens governance and risk management, ensuring all students receive a consistent, high-quality mentoring experience.
