The national award recognises the team’s work to promote campus safety for students, staff and visitors.
UNSW Protective Services has won the Best SafeZone Marketing Strategy Award at the 2025 SafeZone Annual Conference.
The award celebrates the team’s creativity and dedication in promoting campus safety through the SafeZone app, which connects students, staff and visitors to security and emergency services quickly and effectively.
With around 12,000 registered users at UNSW, SafeZone plays a vital role in keeping our campuses safe. The app recently expanded to rural campuses and other UNSW locations, with the official launch at Canberra City precinct in September.
SafeZone’s impact continues to be felt across the University. In one recent example, a student successfully used the app to request emergency assistance, which allowed the Emergency Management Unit (EMU) to respond immediately. The student received medical help and was transported to hospital within 10 minutes, saving their life.
This incident reinforces the importance of safety awareness across the UNSW community and provides fresh momentum to continue strengthening the culture of safety on campus.
