ADA’s print and digital click-through book showcases the faculty’s impactful research, educational and engagement activities across global contexts.

UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) has launched the second volume of Creating Impact from the ADA Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement portfolio.

The stories demonstrate a commitment to strong partnerships with government, industry and communities to promote progress across UNSW’s four strategic Societal Impact Focus Areas, to:

  • accelerate the transition to a sustainable society and planet
  • advance economic and social prosperity
  • enable healthy lives
  • strengthen social resilience, security and cohesion.

Creating Impact highlights the rich diversity of approaches across ADA to help enable lives with purpose and create a future that’s sustainable, connected, healthy and socially just for all.

The projects and initiatives span arts-based health interventions, co-designing virtual reality worlds with seriously ill young people, and addressing gender inequities by attracting, retaining and empowering women in construction.

They promote evidence-led policy reform, for example, by measuring multi-dimensional wellbeing in poverty, promoting a fairer, more productive housing system, and understanding how local governments contribute to the national homelessness response.

The projects contribute to building healthier cities and establishing a strategic green energy statecraft. They deliver greater quality of life for all, for example, by addressing everyday harm between people with cognitive disability and their everyday support workers.
